Uranium Mining and the Grand Canyon

Please complete the online form to email your letter to President Biden.

Letter to be sent:

The Grand Canyon has been the pride of the country for generations. The area around the Grand Canyon is simply too precious to risk with toxic uranium mining. Please stand with Arizonans and assure permanent protections are in place for this iconic landmark.

The same unique hydrology and geology that created the majesty of the Grand Canyon make this area particularly vulnerable to mining. Water in this area is scarce and small seeps and streams that are not visibly connected on the surface provide conduits for contamination to locations far from the original source. Toxic uranium mining in an area defined by these complexities poses a serious risk to wildlife, to the people who live in the region, as well as to the economic benefits from those who enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking and camping there.

Mr. President please don’t give away treasured landmarks, like the Grand Canyon, that help make America great.
